At this point, it’s hard to see how New York can turn things around. They've let go of their coach, brought in a promising new wide receiver, and experimented with various strategies in recent games. Yet, they’ve now dropped five straight.

Like several of their games this season, they should have emerged victorious on Sunday. They outperformed the Patriots statistically, with 336 yards to their 247, more first downs (22-19), and better yards per play (5.9 to 3.9). At halftime, they led comfortably at 13-7 but faltered in the second half. They missed a field goal, punted twice, and allowed the Patriots to score 18 points, resulting in yet another puzzling outcome.

The Texans have been winning, but it's been challenging. CJ Stroud has been sacked 22 times, ranking him fourth among QBs, and has faced 38 pressures. Although the Jets' defence has been inconsistent this season, they’ve still managed to pressure quarterbacks effectively, registering sacks on 9.31% of plays (fourth overall). Stroud may be feeling the pressure, especially since he had a tough outing at this venue last year, completing just 10 of 23 passes for 91 yards and no touchdowns in Week 14 of 2023.

Both defences have favourable matchups, but the Jets' defence needs to step up significantly for the home team to break their losing streak. With Houston finding ways to win despite challenges, we are set for a potential breakout game the Jets desperately need.
