⏰ 1:00PM ET - Broncos vs. Ravens
To kick off week 9 Sunday Football, we are covering the Denver Broncos (5-3) who are being hosted by the Baltimore Ravens (5-3) in what looks to be an offensively heavy game.
Preview
It's surprising that these teams have the same record after two months, especially since Baltimore is considered one of the top teams in the NFL. Denver has won all five of its games in the last six weeks, but none were against teams with winning records, making this weekend a crucial test for them.
The game will likely hinge on the matchup between Baltimore’s offence and Denver’s defence, pitting strength against strength. Baltimore is one of only two teams averaging over 30 points per game this season, while Denver ranks third in the NFL, allowing just 15 points per game.
Prediction
Expect Baltimore to continue to dissapoint against a hot Broncos team. The Ravens will likely come away with this one but the broncos will keep it tight enough to hold the spread in a high-scoring battle.
Spread: Broncos +9
Total: Over 46.5
⏰ 4:25PM ET - Lions vs. Packers
After your post-lunch nap make sure to toss on this exciting matchup between the Detroit Lions (6-1) and the Greenbay Packers (6-2).
Preview
The Lions are riding a five-game winning streak, highlighted by a dominating 52-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans last weekend. They now lead the league with an average of 33.4 points per game and come into Green Bay with a flawless 3-0 record on the road.
Meanwhile, the Packers have extended their winning streak to four games following a close 31-29 win in Jacksonville. They trail Detroit by just half a game in the NFC North standings but have struggled at home against divisional rivals, losing four of their last five encounters, including two straight against their rivals, the Lions.
Prediction
Expect the Lions to maintain their hot streak and take advantage of the cheesehead's poor record at home and against the Lions.
Spread: Lions -2.5
Total: Under 47.5
⏰ 8:20PM ET - Colts vs. Vikings
To finish off NFL Sunday, we have the mighty Minnesota Vikings (5-2) hosting the Indianapolis Colts (4-4) at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Preview
The Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings have both hit rocky waters lately, although their seasons are still very much in the balance. Indianapolis suffered a narrow 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 8, but it was the play and behaviour of QB Anthony Richardson that stole many headlines. Minnesota has been off since Thursday in Week 8, when they fell to the L.A. Rams 30-20.
The narrative for the Vikings is pretty simple. They tend to cover the spread when they win outright but fail to do so when they lose. That's why their record has dropped to 5-2 against the spread after two recent losses. Ironically, because they started the season 5-0, oddsmakers began to favor them more, but now that they’ve started to lose, that has shifted.
Prediction
Expect the Viking's downfall to continue in a close-fought battle where the Colts cover the spread and might even pull away with a W.
Spread: Colts +5.5
Total: Under 46.5
