It’s hard to find any positives with the Dallas Cowboys right now. With Dak Prescott’s injury confirmed as season-ending, their situation has only worsened. Sitting at 3-6, their remaining schedule looks daunting, and it’s difficult to see them achieving anything significant this season.

After a tough loss to Detroit where they initially led, the Texans have room for optimism. Their offensive line has struggled, allowing 12 sacks in the last two weeks and ranking low in pass protection. However, given Dallas’s declining sack rate—just 9 in their last four games—we’re less concerned about that here. With Micah Parsons returning, he could apply some pressure, but the Cowboys’ poor run defence plays right into the hands of the Texans, who would prefer to feature Joe Mixon. While Mixon hasn’t been very active lately due to game situations, this matchup could offer him a chance to shine.

Defensively, the Texans hold a significant advantage. They rank 2nd in defensive DVOA and are one of the best units against the pass, boasting the top completion percentage allowed and third in yards per attempt. Dallas will turn to Cooper Rush, dismissing the clamor for Trey Lance to get a shot. Regardless, there isn’t a substantial difference in their offensive capabilities. Without Prescott, the Cowboys have struggled, managing just 146 yards at home last week against Philadelphia. Houston’s defence is strong, they’re at home all month, and they’ll be looking for redemption after a disappointing Week 10.

Prediction

Expect a strong performance from the Texans as they cover the hefty spread and reach the over in a lopsided win.
