About MLB Picks
How MLB Picks Work on a Betting Exchange
Every MLB pick on this page links to a live order book on SX Bet — peer-to-peer, USDC-settled, no commission on winnings. You see both sides of the market: the best back and the best lay. The midpoint between them is the no-vig fair value for that market.
That changes how you should think about line shopping. On a sportsbook, the price already includes the book's margin. On SX Bet, the price is set by other bettors — and we reverse-engineer the implied no-vig probability from the two sides so you can compare it directly to whatever sportsbook number you're looking at.
How We Reference Fair Value for MLB Markets
For moneyline, run line, and totals on each MLB game we cover, the no-vig reference is computed from SX Bet's two-sided book. Implied probability of best back + implied probability of best lay = total. Each side divided by total = no-vig probability. We display the result as American and decimal odds in the reference table on every pick page.
This methodology only works on liquid markets — when the spread between back and lay is too wide, the midpoint isn't meaningful. We suppress the widget on illiquid markets rather than display noisy numbers.
Best Markets for MLB Bettors
MLB run lines (typically -1.5 / +1.5) and first-five-innings markets are the most efficient — sharp money concentrates there. Moneylines on heavy road favorites are often where the most edge sits, particularly when the lineup is announced late and the pitcher is materially better than the consensus prior.
Totals are weather-sensitive: wind direction at outdoor parks (especially Wrigley, Coors, Citi Field) moves the number 0.5–1 run reliably. We flag wind effects in the analysis on each pick page when they're material.
