After missing out on the NBA Cup final last season in a semi-final loss to the Pacers, the Milwaukee Bucks now have a shot at the trophy. Last game against the Hawks, Giannis led the charge with 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Damian Lillard contributed 25 points and 7 assists. Following a tough 2-8 start to the season, Milwaukee has found its rhythm, going 12-3 in their last 15 games, and maintaining a perfect 6-0 record in this competition.
For the season, the Bucks are averaging 113.3 points per game (14th in the league) and allowing 111.9 points (12th in the NBA). However, they've struggled against the spread, covering in just 41.7% of games (10-14-1).
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder became the first team in the West to reach 20 wins, defeating the Houston Rockets 111-96 to clinch their spot in the final. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander starred once again with 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, supported by Jalen Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein, who scored 20 and 21 points, respectively. Despite trailing by 1 point at halftime, the Thunder surged in the third quarter with an 11-0 run, scoring 34 points, and held on for the win.
Oklahoma City has been a top-10 team on both ends of the floor this season. They average 2.3 more points per game than Milwaukee and boast the league's best defence, allowing just 103.5 points per game. The Bucks had Antetokounmpo, MarJon Beauchamp, and Khris Middleton listed as questionable before the Hawks game, but all three played and should be available for Wednesday's contest.
Antetokounmpo is currently averaging 32.7 points and 6.1 assists per game, while Lillard adds 25.7 points and leads the team with 7.5 assists. On the other hand, Oklahoma City has been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks and is expected to be without at least six players, including Chet Holmgren (hip fracture) and Jaylin Williams (hamstring strain) for the upcoming match.
Prediction
Although OKC are quite heavy favourites in this match, we cannot comfortably bet against Giannis in a star-studded game. Expect the Bucks to come out firing and cover the spread in an entertaining high-scoring bout.
