Step 3: Funding your Wallet with USDC on Arbitrum

You can purchase USDC on a Crypto exchange. What exchange you use depends on your location but some popular crypto exchanges include CoinBase, Kraken, Crypto.com, Binance and eToro.

Purchase USDC and a few dollars worth of Ethereum through a crypto exchange, then send your funds to your betting wallet. We'll run through an example on using Coinbase.

  1. Click on the "Deposit" or "Get Crypto" button on SX Bet and copy your Deposit Address.

2. Click "Send" from your desired crypto exchange, paste in your Deposit Address, amount you'd like to send, and confirm the transaction. Select send your funds on the Arbitrum Network.

3. Select self-custody wallet - both MetaMask and email (Fortmatic) are self-custody wallets. Meaning, you stay in control of your funds. Confirm the transactions and send your USDC and small amount of ETH.

You will now have funds to bet with (USDC) and a little bit for gas (ETH). Note that placing bets uses a very very small amount of ETH (approx 0.0005 cents). A couple of dollars of ETH will last a long time. If you find yourself without gas to place bets, message support.

Step 5: Start Betting!

SX Bet is a peer-to-peer betting exchange so you can take odds like a you would a regular sportsbook by placing a Market Order or offer offer odds to other users by placing a Limit Order.

Note* When you are betting from Arbitrum, there are some features that are not available quite yet like Limit Orders, Live Betting and Peer-to-Peer parlays.

We'll start with an example of placing a Market Order on Arbitrum Chain. Let’s use the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres game as an example to explain the difference between market and limit orders on SX Bet. Click into the market to pull up the order book.

Market Order

A market order is when you want to place a bet immediately at the best available odds. Think of it like buying a candy bar at the store: you see the price, you like it, and you buy it right away.

Example:
  • You want to bet on the Dodgers to win.

  • The current best odds for the Dodgers are 2.23.

  • You place a market order, and your bet is matched instantly.

If you'd like to place a limit order, bridge your funds from Arbitrum to SX Network. But let's continue our example....

Limit Order

A limit order is when you set the odds you want and wait for someone to match your bet. It’s like telling the store, "I will buy this candy bar, but only if you sell it to me for $1 instead of $1.50," and then waiting until someone agrees.

Example:
  • You think the odds for the Dodgers to win should be higher than 2.23.

  • You place a limit order to bet on the Dodgers at 2.24.

  • Now you wait for a match.

Because you have to wait until someone else thinks those odds are good enough and agrees to take the other side of your bet, there is a chance your offer might not get matched.

  • You can see your order pop up in the order book on the San Diego side.

  • Limit Orders can be cancelled prior to them getting matched.

  • If your Limit Order is not matched your funds are returned.

  • You can manage your bets my going to the Portfolio page

Bridging Funds to SX Network

  1. Use the bridge on SX Bet to move funds from Arbitrum to SX Network. Enter the amount desired and confirm the transaction. There is a $1 fee for the transaction.

  • When you bridge your funds to SX Network you will recieve a small amount of SX Token for gas so you can swap tokens. We suggest swapping a small amount your USDC for SX and WSX (wrapped SX)

  • If you need SX for gas, please message support and we will send you some.

Own the Platform & Earn

One of the most exciting facets of SX Bet is community ownership and earning potential. Users have the power to vote on governance proposals that shape the platform while also earning by staking SX Token.

  1. Swap to get WSX (wrapped SX) and SX (for gas) on the Swap Page

  2. Go to the Staking page

  3. Choose a validator and enter the amount you would like to stake

  4. Click Approve to approve the transaction, then click Delegate to delegate your WSX to your chosen Validator (Learn more about choosing a Validator)

  5. Claim your rewards! You can also choose Compound Yeild to re-stake your rewards.
