Week five’s Thursday Night Football will showcase an NFC South clash between the two frontrunners for the division title - the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons. A victory for the Bucs would put them well ahead of the competition but that will not come easy as the Falcons have been playing some solid football this season.

Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has been performing at an elite level. Even without Dave Canales, the Bucs' offence has remained consistent. Rookie running back Bucky Irving is quickly emerging as one of the NFL's most dynamic young players. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are providing an outstanding receiving duo and the defence is also exceeding expectations.

While the Atlanta Falcons haven’t fully met preseason expectations, they have shown improvement compared to previous years. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has demonstrated flashes of brilliance, particularly with his remarkable comeback against Philadelphia in Week 2. However, he has struggled to find his rhythm with just four passing touchdowns and four interceptions. And star running back Bijan Robinson averaging only 56 rushing yards per game is not giving the Falcons much to work with.

Prediction

With home-field advantage and a bashed-up group of wide receivers for the Bucs, expect Atlanta to cover the tight spread in an entertaining high-scoring game.
