After an easy win against the Cowboys without Prescott, the Eagles return home feeling confident. In contrast, the Commanders are reeling from their first loss in four weeks to the Steelers and are dealing with injuries. Starting running back Brian Robinson Jr. and three offensive linemen are questionable for Thursday's game. Nevertheless, Washington has shown resilience and has covered the spread in seven games this season. The real issue lies in the matchup itself.
No NFL team runs the ball more effectively than the Eagles, with a run-play percentage of 55%. They're also among the top two in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns per game. This spells trouble for Washington, which has one of the league's worst run defences, allowing 4.8 yards per rush and 142 rushing yards per game—ranked 28th. Over the last three weeks, they've surrendered over 500 rushing yards to average offences like the Bears, Giants, and Steelers. Meanwhile, the Eagles' defence is improving, ranking second in yards and points allowed per game and third in red-zone touchdown rate. Daniels is also starting to show some rookie imperfections, with just 411 yards, two touchdowns, and a 59% completion rate over the last two weeks.
While Washington has been performing above average overall, regression is looming. They have not yet had a bye week, and Thursday's game will mark their third travel spot in just 11 days. In Philadelphia, against a seasoned Eagles team experienced in high-stakes matchups, this is a tough situation for the road team.
Prediction
Expect the Eagles to continue their dominating win streak through week 12 by covering the spread and hitting the over.
